San Francisco Memories - Part One
I feel extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to visit a beautiful city like San Francisco. I had the best time! I didn't have a strict plan for my visit. I knew of a few landmarks and restaurants I wanted to see, but other than that, I was prepared to wing it and just enjoy what I discovered along the way. When we arrived in the city, we had the best Italian dinner at Fino. My delicious ravioli vanished before I remembered my camera! Oops.
We visited the Ferry Building Marketplace on our first morning in SF. The second I walked in I wanted to eat everything in sight. My first target was Blue Bottle Coffee. I had a latte and picked up a few bags of beans to take home. It was a difficult decision, but I ended up trying a breakfast sandwich from Il Cane Rosso. The Ferry Building has so many amazing options to choose from, like Cowgirl Creamery and Biscuit Bender.
I wanted to go to the Ferry Building on a Tuesday because I read that is when they have their farmer's market! The produce looked so fresh. Most of the vendors offered samples too. I tried a white peach and it was probably the best peach I ever tasted. They also had a few flower stalls among the fruits and veggies. These sweet peas were so fragrant and lovely!
After touring the Ferry Building and the farmer's market, we walked down to Pier 39. We took a ferry across the bay to a little town called Tiburon. It is a very quiet seaside town filled with cute shops and gorgeous views. We had a great seafood lunch at Sam's Anchor Cafe and just walked around for a few hours.
One of my favorite experiences from the trip was walking through the Muir Woods National Park. The redwood trees are so HUGE. I felt like a little ant staring up at the tops of the trees. It is such a calming and beautiful place. I shot a roll of film during our hike through the woods. Fingers crossed the prints turn out ok! I will post them on the blog as soon as I get the roll of film developed.
We found this lookout point on the side of the road when we were driving back from the Muir Woods. My nerves kept me from walking all the way out where those brave people are standing. The wind was blowing so hard I thought I might get swept over the edge. Yikes! It was a beautiful view though! ;)
